Canvas Art Reproductions Much Better Option Than Posters

Luncheon of the Boating Party by Pierre-Auguste Renoir

When you are looking to decorate the bare walls of your home you may be thinking of finding some famous paintings to fill the void. The problem is that you already know of the exact piece that you want, and it is true that the fine Van Gogh or Picasso would look absolutely fantastic in your living room, but it is likely out of your price range. There are certain alternatives that you can pursue rather than spending a life-long fortune on a single piece of artwork. One option would be to find a poster of the admired piece, and another more beneficial option would be to purchase canvas art reproductions of your favorite painting.

There are certain faults to a poster reproduction of any piece that often can simply not be overcome. The biggest benefit to purchasing a poster is likely going to be the price. Posters carry a very low price tag, but there are several reasons to their inexpensive nature. First, the quality of paper that a poster is printed on is cheap in and of itself. This means that the paper is likely to tear, crinkle and ultimately fall flat on your wall. The paper of a poster is naturally cheap because posters are often mass produced, meaning that up to thousands of the exact poster is produced at one time in factory setting. This also eliminates any personalization from the photograph, as even if the poster is replicating a painting, it is likely to look like a photograph due to the high gloss appearance that poster ink supplies.

In contrast, many famous pieces of art are available to be printed on canvas, a form of canvas art reproduction called “Giclée.”  These canvas art reproductions are often much more expensive than posters but have many benefits that make their purchase often worth the extra investment. First, the price of a canvas reproduction is much lower than buying a piece of original art work, but often has a similar appearance on the wall. This is due to the textured appearance that canvas material offers to the painting. Canvas is a much firmer material than poster paper. This means that the canvas will not tear or age nearly as easily as the poster paper will. Often, artists themselves chose to use canvas reproductions of their art. This is because due to the simple nature of reproducing their art with this method, it is a cost effective way to create more replicas of a single art piece while still providing the genuine appeal of an original painting.

Canvas art reproduction are produced through inkjet printing, and this also provides the artist much more control over the reproduction of a successful art piece, including the colors and individual strokes that if altered could easily influence the impact and meaning of the desired piece. Another benefit to canvas art reproductions is that they can be used to display very large pieces of art that may encompass an entire wall, as the printing method is more accessible to size variety than poster printing is.

If you are thinking about finding an art replica for your home, you are much better off finding a canvas art reproductions than just settling on a poster!
